Nachelle Mackie Earns Athlete of the Year Award

Nachelle Mackie leads the nation in the 800m
NEW ORLEANS March 5, 2012– The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized senior Miles Batty, junior Nachelle Mackie and men’s assistant coach Ed Eyestone as Mountain region award winners on Monday. . . .

After redshirting the 2011 season, Mackie earned her first Mountain Region Women’s Track Athlete of the Year award for her performance in the 2012 indoor season. The junior from Spanish Fork, Utah, leads the nation in the 800 meters with a season-best and school record time of 2:03.56.
Like Batty, Mackie also competes on the BYU distance medley relay team. Mackie runs the 800m leg of the women’s DMR, which is currently ranked in the top-ten nationally.
