and competitors at the NCAA Championships.
The women's team had 19 All-MWC citations and was honored with 53 Academic All-MWC citations. Amy Fowler won the 3,000 meters, Heidi Magill won the mile, Carlee Clark set a MWC meet record in the 800 meters, and Whitney McDonald set a MWC Indoor Championship meet record in the 5,000 meters.
Amy Fowler won the steeplechase to become outdoor champion in the event. Ashley McAllister won the pole vault en route to her first trip to the NCAA Championship meet. Michelle Turner won the 800 meters, setting the MWC Championship meet record. McDonald won the 5,000 meters at the conference meet setting a new MWC Championship meet record. McDonald holds the MWC All-time record in the 10,000 meters and 5,000 meters, as well as setting a new BYU All-time record in the 5,000 meters. She was recognized with the Outstanding Performance award at the MWC Outdoor Championship.
BYU added four All-Americans to their all-time list of national contenders. Sophomore Mindy Neeley was recognized as an All-American in the long jump at the Indoor National Championship meet. Senior Kassi Andersen, junior Ashley McAllister and sophomore Whitney McDonald were each awarded All-American status for their performance at the Outdoor National Championships.
Women's head coach Craig Poole was named MWC Indoor and Outdoor Coach of the Year, and Mountain Region Indoor Coach of the Year. Distance Coach Patrick Shane was named West Region Assistant Coach of the Year by the NCAA.
The U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association awarded the BYU women's team with 18 All-Academic Awards, the most of any team in the nation.
